Replacement of oyster baskets
Mangareva is an important production center of pearls in French Polynesia. Production cycles are long - they span on 4 years overall during which pearls are growing. Nevertheless, for the farmers, surveillance is crucial and the oyster baskets soaked in the lagoon taken out of the water every two months in order to be washed. Any seafood for any deposit which could thwart the mollusk growth need to be wiped out. Here, divers are withdrawing baskets from the water.
