The perfumer François Coty collaborated with the Baccarat crystal factory for the creation of his first bottles. His meeting with René Lalique constituted a decisive springboard for the career of the glassmaker, who decided to turn to industrial glass. Their collaboration began in 1907 with the creation of the label for the “l'Effleurt” bottle. Growing orders from Coty prompted Lalique to rent the Combs-la-Ville glass factory. The great originality of his creations quickly distinguished him from other designers such as André Jollivet or Julien Viard. Lalique designed bottles for the most renowned perfumers of his time, 230 of which are on display at the Lalique Museum opened in 2011.
