With more than 250 foundry and forge machines, the Conservatoire des arts de la métallurgie (Conservatory for the Arts of Metallurgy) concentrates the memory of the Haute-Marne and illustrates a remarkable human and industrial adventure. The Conservatory is located in an ancient foundry in Dommartin-le-Franc, closed in 1992. Although the origin of the factory dates back to the 13th century, it was in the 18th century that it really took off. For two centuries, it produced cookers, and ornamental cast iron. Every year, demonstrations of cast iron casting take place in the casting hall.
