Decorations appeared on bells in the 15th century and experienced a golden era in the 19th century. They were developed with the sponsor and sometimes the godfather or godmother of the bell, whose name usually appeared on it. While holy characters were most often depicted, symbols and coats of arms were also frequent ornaments. The name of the bell founder started appearing little by little throughout the centuries. The scrolls (cylindrical decorations), texts, and symbols are all handmade in beeswax.
