Northern Corsica, the Cap Corse peninsula is 40 km (25 mi) long. It is bordered by the mountain range of La Serra. La Serra has eight peaks over 1,000 m (3,281 ft) high, some of which reach 1,300 m (4,265 ft). Some holm oak forests color green some valleys but many of them have been decimated by fires, which explains the non-forest landscapes of Cap Corse, in particular on the ridges.
