Relatively calm waters

The Orne meanders through the Norman Switzerland along rocky walls sometimes 656 ft (200 m) high. Its relatively calm waters allow safe family outings in canoe-kayak. From Pont d'Ouilly to Thury Harcourt, via Clécy, routes three to eight miles (5 to 13 km) long allow discovering old water mills, a paper factory, and a spinning mill. Once past the Clecy Viaduct, 196 ft (60 m) high, the Orne becomes more tumultuous towards the La Courbe dam. A discreet yet rich fauna is sometimes revealed at the bend of a loop.
