The Domaine d'Esthine, near Carolles (Manche), has nineteen Cotentin donkeys (Equus asinus). “Eight guys and eleven girls”, comments Brigitte Pieau, the owner and manager of the estate. In her farm, she efforts to rehabilitate the Cotentin donkey, wanting to make it known and appreciated by the general public. It is an intelligent and trustworthy animal, working well with humans, and contrary to its reputation, it is not stubborn. Indeed, Brigitte Pieau’s aim is above all else to fix the bad image that people have of them. In addition, her donkeys clean up abandoned country roads, thus contributing to the general maintenance of the Manche landscape.
