The Dôme des Invalides and its lantern rise to 107 meters (351 ft). On the occasion of the bicentenary of the Revolution in 1989, they were restored with 12 kilos of gold leaf, and the 4 statues (Justice, Prudence, Temperance and Strength) that had been melted down during the Revolution to make cannons were put back in place. The restoration was supervised by Jean-Claude Rochette, chief architect of the Monuments Historiques.
