With a surface area of 4,844 sq. ft (450 m²), the Royal Suite of the Plaza Athénée Hotel is the largest in the hotel and the largest suite in Paris. Designed as a prestigious flat, the suite has two living rooms, a dining room, a kitchen and four bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms in red porphyry (Lapis porphyrites or purple stone). In ancient times, porphyry was the stone of choice for the Egyptian pharaohs and the Romans. The beige marble of the columns, with their golden capitals, matches the floor and is reflected in the large mirrors on the wall.
