Rebuilt during the Renaissance

The city of Troyes has one of the largest collections of half-timbered houses in France. Little remains from the Middle Ages because more than 1,600 burnt in the great fire of 1524, which destroyed nearly a third of the city. Many of them were rebuilt during the Renaissance. Today, the half-timbered houses with colored cob facades are indivisible with Troyes' reputation as a medieval city.
