The impala has a sharp hearing, a pronounced sense of smell and an excellent view. Its hind legs have a kind of black spots just above the hooves. They emit a special odor to allow members of the group to reunite in the event of dispersal in front of a predator.
To recognize each other, impalas also have black lines at the end of the ears, on the back of the tail and on the forehead, as well as odoriferous glands on the forehead.
