Since the conversion of their estate from polyculture to viticulture in the 1950s, the owners of Brégançon Castle have always sought to improve the quality of their vineyard and their wine. In 1955, Georges Tézenas obtained the excellence title of Cru Classé for his research and quality efforts and raised his wines to the level of the most recognized wines of the Côtes-de-Provence designation. His peers awarded Georges Tézenas such a unique distinction with the desire to make this hierarchy of excellence known and perpetuate this title of nobility. It pre-existed its recognition by the Côtes-de-Provence denomination in 1977.
