Reclaiming the landscape

The evolution of human activities is a determining factor in that of landscapes. This is the case with the Jura forest whose current preponderance should not make us forget that at the beginning of the 20th century, the Haut-Jura was a pastoral and cultivated territory whose forest zones had been pushed back to the steepest areas of the Jura massif. The forest has reclaimed this territory following the rural exodus of the last century and the disappearance of many hamlets or farms in favor of a habitat concentration in villages and towns.
