Tremblers - like the one that Robert Marichy may be beginning here in his workshop in Arinthod in the Jura department - are ornamental pieces shaped on a wood lathe which appeared at the end of the 17th century. Made from a single piece of wood, they are composed of a succession of classic or complex profiles alternating with so finely machined parts that they approach breaking.
