Reaching the summit of Puy de Sancy

0
Puy de Sancy dominates the Puy-de-Dôme department from the top of its 6,184 ft (1,885 m). Its summit offers a panoramic view over the whole of Auvergne. It is accessible to most people by cable car after climbing some 800 steps to reach the observation platform and the orientation tables. Hikers can also walk on two trails from the Mont-Dore resort located at 3,937 ft (1,200 m) of altitude. They are quite stony and with significant elevation and allow reaching the summit in 2.7 miles (4.5km) for the main route and 2.17 miles (3.5km) for the circuit that passes through the Val de Courre.
