Rangiroa is a unique place in the Polynesian space because of its some 240 islets spread over more than 110mi (177km) of ocean which make it one of the most popular destinations for divers. The second largest atoll in the world forms a loop of islands surrounded by different types of ocean : Moana-tea (the Pacific Ocean) which constitutes the lagoon, and Moana-uri (the wild ocean) where manta rays, dolphins, sharks and even whales coexist. Passes like the one of the photo allow you to go from one to the other.
