Roots of mangrove trees
1
0
The mangrove trees of the Rhizophoraceae family are able to thrive along the sea shores in the tidal zone and to withstand the regular flooding of their base in salt water. They thus form amphibious forests which endure the high salinity and the low oxygenation of the marine substrate thanks to their aerial root system which allows them to live on veritable stilts.
