The cheetah is the fastest land animal at race. Its whole body is adapted to speed : slim and slender with a small head that makes it very aerodynamic. Its legs are long and thin, with elongated and delicate bones. This finesse of the skeleton makes the cheetah very light for its size. Its extremely flexible spine and powerful rear legs allow it to cross an average of 22 to 26 feet (7 to 8 meters) in one stride, sometimes even 32 feet (10 meters). And it can have four successive strides in one second.
