The Raccoon Butterflyfish, Chaetodon lunula, has a laterally compressed, yellow with reddish oblique lines body of about 7.8 inches (20 cm) with a black mask surmounted by white on the eyes and a black spot on the caudal peduncle. It frequents exposed outer slopes of coral reefs from the surface to 98.4 feet (30 m) deep. The genus Chaetodon has about ninety very similar species.
