Adult male great-tailed grackle

0
The is great-tailed grackle is a highly social passerine species, member of the family Icteridae. The adult male has plumage with blue tints and yellow eyes, whereas females are brownish. In Central America, the Aztecs venerated it for its black plumage with blue to purple metallic reflections, which earned it the nickname of Devil bird.
In the 20th century, it was found exclusively in swamps and wetlands of Central and South America, but the alteration of its habitat caused its expansion to the United States and Canada.
