Riquewihr is divided into four distinct zones. To the west, a wooded massif runs from the hills of the Vosges to the Ribeauvillé forest. The urbanized area includes the medieval core at the outlet of the Sembach valley and the recent houses on the south-eastern side of the old town. The vineyard part occupies the slopes which descend to the Wine Route. Finally, wetlands, transformed into meadows unsuitable for growing vines, follow the lower course of the Sembach.
