Four new wings

The Verzenay windmill has been owned by the G.H. Mumm champagne house since 1972. It is a listed historic monument. Built in 1820 on the Mont Bœuf (222 metres above sea level) to grind cereals, it stopped working in 1901. The great storm of 2013 destroyed three of its wings, even though they were firmly attached. Four new wings, 9 metres long and weighing 1,543 lbs (700 kilos), replaced them. All around, paths wind between the vineyards, sometimes paved, sometimes wild paths, which follow a portion of the Way of St. James for a few hundred metres.
