Puppies' learning phases
0
0
Before being able to be harnessed to a sled, puppies are subjected to a training in several phases. The first, up to two to three months, is a discovery phase in which the musher bonds with the puppies while teaching them that he is their leader and familiarizing them with the presence of their fellows. It is from four to five months that the musher introduces the harness and the first directional commands during excursion walks. Between six and seven months, he will be able to start traction exercises with the puppies and then, between eight and twelve months, to initiate them to sledding and working in a pack.
