The Honduran government is working as much as possible to protect and secure the less accessible areas of the immense nature reserve represented by its tropical forest. Reforestation programs carried out by green battalions of the national army have made it possible to reforest parts of it, to combat illegal logging and to fight fires. Indigenous people have also been sporadically displaced to return their pasture land to the forest.
