Following its acquisition in September 2019 by the Departmental Council of Puy-de-Dôme, Lake Servières was listed as a Sensitive Natural Area (ENS). This decision makes it possible to impose rules intended to protect the site from the summer influx of the public. The lake, in which swimming was already theoretically prohibited, remains open to the public. However, its use is now monitored to avoid the degradation of its banks, aquatic grass beds, and water quality.
