Propulsion of the manta ray

The manta ray moves thanks to the simultaneous movements of its two triangular pectoral fins on either side of its body. Their wingspan is approximately 2.2 times its total length, off tail. Like wings, they propel the water backwards and give the impression that the ray flies like a bird. Its small dorsal fins at the base of its tail serve as stabilizers.
