This emblematic site of the Champagne region offers one of the most beautiful views over the Champagne vineyards. Built in 1820, the Verzenay windmill stopped working when the last miller died. His heirs then sold it to a Champagne house. During the two world wars, it was used as a military observation post. Partly destroyed by a shell in 1914, it was restored in 1949. Carpentry, joinery, and painting work was undertaken and the four wings were rebuilt and fixed. Currently owned by the G.H. Mumm Champagne house, it is listed as a Historical Monument.
