The profile of a horse defines the appearance of its head and particularly the conformation of its muzzle bone, i.e. the front part of its head between its forehead and nostrils. It can be convex or hooked with a rounded muzzle bone, concave or hollow with a muzzle bone hollowed out in the middle or - as here in the Comtois horse - rectilinear or straight with a straight muzzle bone. Certain types of profile are characteristic of the horse's breed.
