The principle of woodturning - as demonstrated here by Robert Marichy in his workshop - is to rotate a piece of wood fixed on a shaft, or rotary axis, by means of a dedicated accessory (chuck, plate, pigtail), in order to work it while using specific hand tools with long handles such as gouges, chisels, etc. Woodturning makes it possible to produce furniture legs, hollow objects (bowls, dishes, vases) and all kinds of artistic objects.
