Principle of the wood lathe
In general, a lathe is a machine used by different trades (potter, glassmaker, toolmaker, etc.) on which a piece is fixed and worked by rotating it on itself. A wood lathe therefore makes it possible to rotate a piece of wood fixed at its ends on a longitudinal axis and set in rotation by a motor or a crank. The material is then worked in motion using tools chosen by the turner according to the shape he wishes to give it.
