In this cellar, the exceptional cultural marriage between wine and wood is celebrated. The encounter is obvious between the art of winemaking, brought by the peoples of the Mediterranean and the excellence of the woodworking of the peoples of the Germanic forest. It allowed the coopers to offer wines their most beautiful cases. A central screw presses and capstan presses were developed in Alsace from the 15th century. The local and regional history is represented at the Unterlinden Museum through the decorative art objects and the popular arts and traditions of Alsace.
