At the heart of the Lorraine Regional Nature Park, Madine Lake fulfills three purposes. It serves as a water reservoir for the city of Metz, is a national hunting and wildlife reserve, and shelters a recreational and activities area. The site emphasizes preserving its vegetation, which allowed the installation of more than 250 bird species on its waters. In addition to its avifauna, Madine Lake shelters more than 40 mammals species, including carnivores, bats, and rodents.
