Maintaining a Norman symbol
The Calvados department is sensitive to the preservation of its bocages. This puzzle of grazed or agricultural plots constitutes a symbol of Normandy's landscapes. Hedges protect the parcels against the wind while restricting soil erosion by regulating rainwater. The department has set up an aid plan for farms to replant hedges and trees, on which a large fauna and flora depend.
