For the past years, large or small wine estates started using the Ardennes workhorse. The horse's foot preserves the roots of the vine, otherwise damaged by tractors. The vines' lifespan, therefore, supposedly extends accordingly. The horse is trained to feel the stock at its foot, enabling it to stop at the right time. Its pace should be steady, and it is given a break when it slows down. The animal is expected to work at least 50 hours per month to keep its rhythm.
