Preserving the lake-ponds complex

Madine Lake and its peripheral ponds constitute an essential relay for the aquatic avifauna of the region. It is a winter refuge for numerous bird species, some unusual in the area, such as the common goldeneye. The lake-ponds complex allows animals to rest, feed, and reproduce alternately on the different sites. The Coastal Protection Agency of the Grand Est region ensures its ecological integrity through controlled tourism and the delimitation of quiet areas for the birds nesting around the lake.
