The Lérins Islands are part of the Natura 2000 Baie et Cap d'Antibes - Îles de Lérins site that extends on 33,601 acres (13,598 ha), 98% of which consisting of a marine area between 5,324 ft (1,623 m) below sea level and 265 ft (81 m) above sea level. They constitute spaces of major landscape value that contribute to the brand image of the French Riviera. The Lérins Islands indeed form natural islets protected from the galloping urbanization that affects the continental coast and the maritime area through artificialization.
