Pozzines are hygrophilous lawns installed on substrates resulting from the partial or complete filling of glacial lakes (bottom pozzines) or located on the edges of lacustrine basins or torrents (slope pozzines). Located in Corsica between 4,265 and 7,217ft (1,300 and 2,200m) above sea level, their snow cover lasts between 4 and 8 months according to their altitude and exposure.
