In Honduras, sculptures of the jaguar god can be seen on the Maya archaeological site of Copán. It is the emblem of Mayan royalty and nobility. This solitary animal is the largest wild feline on the American continent and the largest predator in this region but is wary of humans. For this reason, it was considered as a symbol of power ans as the lord of the jungle.
