Some foods argue that it is a biological adaptation of the animal to ensure better access to food. New, Chinese scientists have revived another old hypothesis. By studying a 16-million-year-old giraffe, researchers concluded that giraffe neck length was a sex attribute for male species. During jousting at breeding time, males would use their necks to butt each other. The winner often had one neck longer than the other. Also, the length of the neck is less important in females.
