La ville de Honfleur est à la fois un port maritime et un port fluvial. Elle est située au carrefour entre l'estuaire de la Seine et de la Manche. Au coeur de la ville, le Vieux Bassin accueille les plaisanciers. Les maisons étroites et leurs toits d'ardoises datent des XVIIè et XVIIIè siècles. Elles rappellent le paysage d'autres villes portuaires du nord de l'Europe comme Amsterdam ou Copenhague.
