Porites are hard corals with small polyps that form beautiful branch colonies of robust appearance. They exist in a multitude of colors. To feed, they can capture microplankton in the water column. The sturdiness of their skeleton slightly slows their growth, which does not prevent them from easily exceeding 11.8in (30cm) in diameter.
