The pink water lily (Nymphaea Fabiola) is a rhizomatous aquatic plant with large rounded leaves and large floating solitary flowers. The colorful hybrids appeared in France in the 19th century by crossing the native white species Nymphaea alba with tropical varieties. They were popularized by their exhibition in the basins of the Trocadéro during the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1889 and then by the three hundred canvases of Nymphéas painted by Claude Monet.
