At the GHM foundry, large steaming chests hold the statues in their sand matrix before unmoulding. The metallurgical factory perpetuates a long tradition from the 19th century in Sommevoire, in the Haute-Marne department. Its founder Antoine Durenne received the Legion of Honour in 1862 for the quality of his foundry works. Today, the site produces a wide range of creations, including street furniture, fountains, or statues, that would later adorn numerous cities in Europe, America, or Asia, where they are popular.
