The twin basaltic volcanoes of Puy de la Vache and Puy de Lassolas, in the Puy-de-Dôme department, are popular hiking sites in the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park. Their peaks at 3,828 and 3,894 ft (1,167 and 1,887 m) offer a panorama on almost the entire Chaîne des Puys volcanic chain. A classic loop of 2.8 miles (4.5 km) allows visitors to discover the volcanoes on foot or mountain bike.
