Le Pont Long Biên, ancien Pont Paul Doumer, a été mis en service en 1902. Il est d'une longueur de 1682 mètres et enjambe le Fleuve Rouge, au Nord-Est du centre de Hanoï. Il comporte une voie ferrée au centre et deux voies étroites de part et d'autre désormais réservées à la nuée vrombissante des scooters et motos. Dans le lit du fleuve, des plantations de bananiers ont été aménagées.
