In the historic centre of Pont-Audemer, the small streets are lined with typical Norman houses. The exposed wooden beams crisscross their cob facades. There are no sidewalks, unlike in the Middle Ages, but fortunately the sewer system changes everything when it comes to smell. The cobblestone streets are made of local granite whose brown colour goes wonderfully with the ochre or pink cob of the houses.
