The town of Pont-Audemer is located in the Risle valley in the heart of the Rouen, Caen and Le Havre triangle, a 2-hours drive from Paris. Built between two arms of the Risle and nicknamed the Norman Venice today, Pont-Audemer has kept a very particular charm thanks to a combination of canals, bourgeois houses, half-timbered houses, and Norman buildings. Since the Middle Ages, Pont-Audemer has always been renowned for the quality of its leather, which even equipped the army of William the Conqueror. This craft is at the origin of the network of canals that criss-cross the city, where the hides were washed during tanning.
