Polishing the crystal is the final stage of the finishing process. It removes the tool and mould marks left by the hot workshop and gives the piece its shine and transparency. Polishing can be chemical, using a hydrofluoric acid bath in which the creation is placed, or mechanical. The repolished satin finish, dear to Lalique, requires manual polishing to obtain the desired gradation. The glassmaker works in contact with a polishing wheel in order to give the piece a shiny and polished appearance. Polishing is the last operation before the signature.
