More profitable than fine lavender

Produced in larger quantities, lavandin is much more profitable than lavender for farmers. It takes about three times less lavandin than lavender to make one liter of essential oil. About 88 pounds (40 kg) of lavandin give one liter of essential oil, while it takes 308 pounds (140 kg) of fine lavender to extract the same amount. The quality of the essential oil produced from lavandin is, however, lower and less stable than that of fine lavender essential oil.
