Flax (Linum usitatissimum) is a rustic, decorative, and easy-to-grow herbaceous plant with fibrous stems. Planted in March or April, it reaches 3.3 ft (1 m) within a hundred days. Around mid-June, the linens are in bloom for a week, and the fields turn blue every morning before the flowers fade in the afternoon. There are some 200 species of flax, some of which are perennials, others annuals, or biennials, forming shrubs with various flower colors.
